About herringchoker.com This is the personal site of Fred Martin - that's me! All opinions expressed here are my own, unless otherwise indicated. Up until February 1, 2008 the site told the ongoing saga of a quarry proposal in rural Nova Scotia. The quarry was approved by the government on January 28, and this has caused considerable uproar in the environmental community for a variety of reasons, and in particular for its unique precedent-setting nature. Please consult your local media for details as the story continues to unfold. Techie stuff The site is developed on a dialup connection, using an ancient version of Microsoft FrontPage. The site's eye-candy and occasional sound effects work best on an up-to-date version of Microsoft's Internet Explorer. I use Mozilla Firefox as my browser of choice and highly recommend it, especially if you live in rural Nova Scotia and are used to browsing with the version of Netscape that came bundled with your package from Aliant. However, some features on the site will not work with Firefox. All links on this site should open in a new window - this effect is most convenient if you use a modern tabbed browser such as IE or FF. This site uses several scripts from Dynamic Drive, and I recommend their resources if you are a developer with a tight budget:

Disclosure: I have no political affiliations and I am not a single-issue voter. However, if you become the person who successfully resolves the current Upper Granville quarry proposal fiasco, you will earn the respect and gratitude of many people, myself included. No fish were harmed in the making of this site. |
